The Science of Painting Eyes, Jason Morgan

Oil painting demonstration of a lion's eye.   Morgan says:   "For the purpose of this exercise I have used the eye of a lion, with their rich colour it is easier to see the effects light has upon them but the principles outlined here apply to almost all eyes. You must remember that the shape of the eye will dictate how the light reacts, therefore a fishes eye (usually flat) will react very differently from say a human eye."

Snow Leopard, Jason_Morgan

Jason Morgan shares his thoughts as he creates this striking large canvas close-up of Snow Leopard.  Artist says 'I can only achieve the look by painting in layers.'

Valuable tip from Morgan:   "Don't think that I am ever satisfied with a painting though, as after just a few days the novelty of the new painting has worn off and I start to see areas for improvement. I don't rework the painting though.... I now see that painting as the best I could do at that time, and from the lessons learnt doing it I have now reached a new level."
